Fortnite Battle Royale: How to a legend in Fortnite? These tips and guides for a PRO gamer (part 1)

Updated: Aug 10, 2018

About Fortnite Battle Royale:

Fortnite is a co-op sandbox survival game, developed by Epic Games and Peo- ple Can Fly and published by Epic Games. Perhaps the most common mode in the game is Fortnite Battle Royale, which is a 100-player PvP mode. There is also a storyline “Save the World” mode. We will discuss these two game modes later on.

Fortnite is completely free to play (with micro-transactions, of course), and it does not require a powerful computer to run the game. It has a crafting feature mixed in with action-packed shooter elements to make the game feel all the more exciting to play.

To top it all off, Fortnite also has quests and challenges that play- ers can complete to earn in-game currency which will help them buy vanity items (for decorative purposes) in the Battle Royale game mode.

In the Save the World mode, you can use V-Bucks to buy Llama Pinata to get a bunch of other items to help you progress the storyline.

Game Modes of Fortnite Batlle Royale:

Fortnite comes in two modes. The co-op PvE (Player versus Environment) mode called “Save the World” in which you complete missions to progress in the story- line. However, the game is more known for its second mode, Fortnite Battle Royale In the “Save the World” mode, players have to scavenge items, craft weapons and build structures as well as survive the monsters that attack them. Basically, it is a survival sandbox game, with a storyline and missions that the players have to complete. In this mode, the players have access to different character types such as hero, defender, and support. The characters can gain experience to level up and im- prove their stats for the increasingly challenging missions.

The Fortnite Battle Royale mode, on the other hand, is a large 100-player PvP (Player versus Player) mode. Here, you can go solo, or with a friend, or a group of four players. The goal is to survive by killing other players. You start off with a con- sistent map but with random items placed all over the map. Initially, you have the whole map to play around with.

You start off on board the mighty Battle Bus that flies across the map and you jump from the bus, land on the island, and let the car- nage ensue. However, the game soon starts to limit the play area (aka safe zone) until there is nowhere to run or hide. Being outside the safe zone will damage the player until their character dies, forcing the players into the play area.

Before that happens, players must scavenge for resources as well as weapons and equipment to defend themselves against other players.

Fortnite Battle Royale also comes as a separate Free-to-play game, should you wish to only play this mode.

Get Started:

In this section, we will be looking at some of the ways to help you speed up your resource-gathering process. To many players, this is the most painful part of the game. Gathering resources gets repetitive and boring very quickly. You need re- sources to craft items, weapons, and buildings. To craft weapons, you need schematics for the weapon, which you can get from looting the weapon (which then unlocks the schematics) or get it as a reward from the Llama Piñatas).

So, how do you maximize your resource-gathering efficiency?

Here are a few tips:

Building materials: Wood is one of the first building materials that you will come across, and it is the most common type of resource. It is found in trees, wooden walls, floors, furniture and chests. The downside to using wood is that it is the most fragile material, so we only recommend using it to build emergency cover or to build simple structures at the start of the game . Stone is the second most durable material and is found by breaking stone,  concrete buildings in urban areas or rocks in rural areas. Metal is the most durable of them all and can be found by breaking down vehicles, destroying large machinery or in mines. We recommend using wood at the start of the game seeing as it’s the most accessible material and the quickest to erect. Stone and metal on the other hand are best used towards the end of the game where you can build long lasting structures to best protect yourself.

The weak spot: When you are mining any destructible object, you will nor- mally do 25 damage per hit. However, you may notice a mark with a blue cir- cle and an orange dot in the center. That is the weak spot. Aim at it and hit it and you will do 50 damage. Basically, you will mine that object twice as fast, saving you a lot of time.

Go caving: Most of the time, caves contain ores in abundance, even rare ores. That applies to mineshafts as well. So, if you happen to be by a cave or a mineshaft, get in there. You might find some valuable resources that you need.

Special containers: You can search for a lot of items in many containers such as boxes, cupboards, and even in plants. Among all of those containers, you should keep an eye out for treasure chests or other types of special con- tainers. Sometimes, special loots are also stored inside ordinary-looking containers. There are audio cues that you can hear when you are near a treasure chest. Listen very carefully, and start digging once you are close enough. Why? Because treasure chests are often hidden behind walls. You also need to look high and low for it, literally. The chests are often located in the attic or the basement, rarely on the middle floor or outside.

Mission: Some missions are timed, meaning that you do not have the luxury

of exploring and gathering resources. Choose your missions wisely. Missions like Ride the Lightning and Fight the Storm have unlimited time, so you can afford to look around. Moreover, select your region properly. If you need wood, choose forested areas. If you need metal, go for the suburban or city zones.

The Outlander: This hero type is the best at scavenging. While character class

may seem trivial when you play, this feature is not implemented for aesthetics reasons. The Outlander has the highest chance of finding rare loot in con- tainers, not to mention that after the upgrade, Outlanders can even see loots with rare goods glowing faintly through walls.

A Guide to a Quick Skydive:

At the beginning of the game, you will be in the flying bus, called the “Battle Bus”. It will make its way across the map and at a certain point, players are allowed to jump out of the bus and begin the game. While skydiving is not a problem for many players, many of them tend to land later than the others. You will want to land as soon as possible since you can be the first to look around and scavenge for loots.

But how do some players land earlier than others? When you jump out of the Battle Bus, you can either skydive or deploy your umbrella or your glider. Of course, a skydive makes your descent to the ground a lot faster, but at a certain point, the umbrella or glider will automatically activate. When the umbrella/glider is deployed, you will go into a glide, during which your descent to the ground is a lot slower. The pro’s know a way around this. To achieve a quick skydive, you need to understand the game mechanics. The glider/umbrella activates when you are at a certain height from the ground.

So, you will want to fall as far as possible before going into a glide. How? Avoid high buildings or terrain. A trick that some players like to use is to aim for the lower terrain area, and activate the glide, and then glide to the higher-level areas instead. That way, you will reach the ground a lot faster.

A second trick is to go to your intended location at a 45-degree angle. While it may seem like a no-brainer to jump when you are directly above the location where you want to be, it is worth knowing that gliding straight down is significantly slower than gliding at a 45 degree angle. It takes practice to be able to correctly estimate when to jump, but that just comes with experience.

Best Landing Spots in game:

Choosing your landing spot sets the foundation for the rest of the game. Land in a good spot and you’ll have a good chance of winning. Land in a bad one and you’ll die very early. Here are some of the best landing spots in the game, most of which have treasure chests that you can loot for Legendary gears (just be sure to look thoroughly): South East of Dusty Depot No, not in Dusty Depot.

It is a popular spot in the game, meaning that you will find many other players there as well. Unless you want a very tough fight, avoid it at all costs. Instead, you should head south-east and find two buildings with chim- neys. There are about eight chests there with the gears you need to get started.

The Hidden Tunnel of Tomato Town Tomato Town is also a popular location. Again, avoid it at all costs. If you wan- der outside of town, just south of it, you will find a tunnel. Inside, you will find a few crates that have the gears you will need to fight off the other players when you resurface in Tomato Town. Snobby Shores Considering that the bus starts flying over the island from the east, you could try to land on the western shore of the island.

There, you should not find many players. You will find many houses in Snobby Shores in which gears are available in large abundance. It is also worth checking the basements as well since they tend to have materials which will aid you in the game. The Moisty Mire This is also a great place to start your game, considering that there is water in the bottom right corner of the map that slows down the advancement of your ene- mies around that part of the island.

Once you touch down, find the crates, and cut down the trees before you go to the bottom left corner of the Mire. There, you will find about five crates full of great materials by a tower of stacked cars.

The Pool Close to the Tilted Towers The Tilted Tower is at the center-left of the island, as you head off a little bit more to the left whilst gliding, keep an eye out for a closed pool. You do not want to land inside the Titled Towers as that is notoriously fierce. You will want to land close to that pool since there is more than enough equipment for you to stock up on for the battle at the Tilted Towers. The Watchtower North of Wailing Woods This is a perfect spot for you if you are playing solo. The Watchtower is located at the top right corner of the map in the Wailing Woods. There, you should be able to find enough equipment for you.

Then, head west to find more gear. If you hap- pen to find an ice-cream truck on top of a hill, investigate it. You should find a few more crates full of loots. The Motel West of Anarchy Acres It should not be hard to locate this motel. The good thing about this motel is the fact that there is enough equipment for an entire team. To save time, try to land on the roof of the motel and dig your way down and loot along the way. Remember, as mentioned previously, be sure to aim for the crosshair when digging to maxi- mize efficiency.

Tips for gamer:

In this section, we will give you some tips that separate an ordinary player from an excellent player. These tips give you the edge in combat and these are what the pro’s usually do whenever they are in a match. With the know-how we discuss here, you will be able to outplay your unsuspecting opponents with ease.

Build Better

Battling in Fortnite is so much more than just shooting and running around. With the introduction of the building mechanics, you can now position yourself to your advantage. Knowing how to build is the difference between #1 and #2.

While it takes practice to get used to building in Fortnite, we have a few tips for you to help you build better and faster.

The first tip is to re-bind your keys. This is a common tactic for professional e- sport players. By having important functions bound to the keys closest to your fin- gers, you can save yourself some time when you build. So, here are a few keys to re-bind:

Wall (Building option 1): Q, E or Z Platforms (Building option 2): Either F, V, or X Ramp (Building option 3): Either F, V, or C It is also worth noting that you should get comfortable with the keys as well. While our suggestion above works the best for us, you may find other options more comfortable. It really depends on you. Mouse sensitivity is also important. Too low and you will take too long to look

around. Too high and you cannot aim. Find the right balance that works best for you.
