Earlier this year, Intel has launched the NUC (Next Unit of Computing) generation 8 - a computer super compact yet powerful enough to run the game AAA and VR at the frame rate acceptable. However, the weakness of the NUC is price: price up to more than $1,500, you can buy a PC for gaming so much stronger.

Chuwi HiGame PC is a new compact PC with the ambitious target the market segment that Intel NUC ignored. It runs the same platform with the NUC, but Chuwi sell computers HiGame as a complete PC (as opposed to NUC, only a barebone product) at a lower price to a few hundred dollars. The company is currently running a campaign on Indiegogo, enabling customers can preorder HiGame within the next few weeks before officially put on the shelf machines later this year.

Like NUC, HiGame is equipped with Intel Core processor generation 8, together with the integrated graphics card AMD Radeon RX computer Vega M. The compact, power saving brings incredible strength, superior compared to integrated graphics from Intel.

Chuwi currently provide 2 samples HiGame: Intel Core i5 Model 8305G and 8709G form Intel Core i7, 8GB RAM both memory and storage up to 256GB. In its fundraising campaign, samples priced Intel Core i5 899 USD, while the Intel Core i7 sample with 1099 USD price. The retail price of both official after appearing on the market will be higher than the old price sale $ 400.

The above price is not too cheap, but compared to the price of Intel NUC, we significantly lower. Of course, the computer's compact form without completing the stand as Intel, and Chuwi brand is not as popular as Intel. Maybe this is the reason that the price of the market it fit better.

As assessed by Theverge:

"About the level of power consumption and the ability to handle, good HiGame par Intel NUC. It can handle everyday tasks easier, and can run AAA titles like Star Wars Battlefront II at 60 fps with a resolution of 1080p and at medium settings. Too much power inside a tiny box!"

The size, shape:

HiGame slightly higher compared to the NUC, but a square (6x6 inch) instead of rectangular as Intel NUC, and both do not waste space in your small room. Aluminum shell of the machine looks sleek and beautiful than the NUC (personal opinion). It did not even have the details of decorative lights, for those who prefer simplicity, this is a plus point.

Connect:

If you want a PC with its compact size, you have to accept in exchange something. Whether HiGame have enough ports to output 5 screen at the same time, it still has no ports by Intel NUC. Connectors "Thunderbolt 3" on the front single machine, making export the image to the screen, or plug the discrete GPU, becomes quite grotesque; and the machine is not equipped with an SD card slot.

Radiator:

But the biggest difference between HiGame other and Intel NUC is the radiator. HiGame has a single fan size 90mm run regularly and very noisy - maybe because this is only a prototype device alone (Intel NUC 2 quieter fan rotation). HiGame rotary fan whether you are playing games, surfing the web, or just chat on Slack, reading emails, surfing Twitter, type Word, .... Therefore, if you intend to use in a long time HiGame then you should buy yourself a headphone.

Chuwi said the commercial version of HiGame will have turned the radiator fan quieter, but it does not say to change it by hand or hardware and software.

If you are looking for a computer as small as possible, can play the modern game and withstand the demands of the game, HiGame would be an interesting option, smaller and cheaper than Intel NUC. Of course, as mentioned above, Intel NUC though considerably more expensive but gives a better feeling of use, and an obvious thing, the more expensive price, the better the quality.
